“Narcissa, would you please cease your silliness? Your cousin is trying to take a picture of us…” - Lucius Malfoy
Lucius & Narcissa || The Beginning
Narcissa watched the small house elf shuffle away before returning her attention back to the man sat before her. Once her glass was full, she raised it as Lucius had done and connected their glasses, a clinking sound being emitted into the air as they did so, her eyes still focused on his, a smile gracing her features. She took a small sip of the wine and placed the glass back down on the table. She picked the menu that laid before her up and glanced over it, the food all seemed so good.
She glanced up from the menu as he spoke, placing it down as though not to be rude as he spoke to her. She could tell that, just by his facial movements that he wasn’t used to speaking like this, it seemed as if it was almost a weakness for him to do so. She thought for a moment as he asked her what made her decide that he had changed, there were many reasons behind that question. “Well, this being one of them” she replied, gesturing to the date as a whole. “You would have never done it before, because if you don’t mind me saying; you put yourself first, I always came second to what you wanted or needed” she paused, thinking back to how they were before he left. “And you putting me first, well it speaks volumes to me” she finished. “Also the way you were prepared to be ‘just friends’, you didn’t just come back and give me the ultimatum of it being either being with you or nothing whatsoever” she took his hand over the table and looked directly into his eyes as she spoke. “I know you’ve changed, Lucius”
Lucius mulled over her words for a moment. He was torn. There was a way to lie his way out of this, to make it all seem like he was the better man, that he truly had changed, but that was the problem. He would be lying to prove he was not about deceit anymore. Now Lucius could lie like the best of them, probably better than any in the castle, but he seemed to have found his weakness, and it was the blonde in front of him. He let his fingertips run across her hand as he thought.
“There’s an element of deception in that my dear,” Lucius said slowly, not letting his eyes leave hers, because he knew if they did, he would just resume his usual slick manner and let this build. “I want this to be different, because you are different to me. I don’t want to begin this with lies and deceit. So, being just friends, that wasn’t exactly what I wanted. I came that day thinking I could just take you without effort. Then, when I knew I couldn’t, I came up with friends, so that I could get close to you again, because I knew I was better that him and eventually if I was there long enough I could convince you otherwise.” Lucius finally glanced away. This was out of character, it truly was, but she had turned from a girl he’d used to an equal, and he had a inkling it was his feelings for her that did this. “I want to say I’m sorry, but I can’t be sorry for anything when it led me to this,” he added, letting his fingers link with hers. He couldn’t deny he was worried about where this would take him. His eyes hesitated before sliding back toward hers, waiting for her judgement.
Narcissa listened to his words carefully, fully listening to what he was saying to her. She’d never been different to anybody, even Avery who seemed to be able to convince her that she was different went and ruined that, to him she was most probably just another girl he was able to trick into bed by telling her that he loved her. In a way she was glad that Lucius was telling her the truth about his intentions about only becoming friends to prove he was better than Avery, and the truth was; that he is and always will be better than him. He didn’t use to be, but he is now.
No matter how angry she should have felt at the confession, she couldn’t bring herself to be. It had lead her to this moment in time and she couldn’t see what was bad about that. Narcissa knew that this was extremely out of character for Lucius and she knew it was hard for him to be telling her this, but in some ways it proved he had changed, normally he would have just lied his way out of the situation; but he didn’t. “Thank you for being truthful with me” she said, her voice soft, “but I can hardly be angry with you when it’s brought me here, with you now” she added, looking back into his eyes.
Lucius & Narcissa || The Beginning
He took the compliment to his planning with a curt nod, smiling smugly. “Elf made wine Septimus,” he hissed at the elf, who immediately shuffled away returning with a bottle, and pouring it into both glasses. Lucius waited until both glasses were full, before picking up his own and raising it between them. “To a new beginning,” he announced, smiling at his stunning date, his eyes not leaving hers, waiting for her to connect their glasses.
Once done, he took a gulp of his wine, having it remind him of home instantly. Then he turned his attention to the menu. “Anything take your fancy my dear?” He said, motioning toward the menu in front of her too. “All the finest trimmings and what not. All for you. As it should be.” He dropped his eyes back to the menu, thinking of Avery briefly. He knew the worthless sod would have done nothing like this, but then another thought hoodwinked his mind. It was new. It was something he had never done before. It was doubt. “Can I…” he paused, creasing his brow briefly, he’d never expressed a thought like this. “Just to digress from this for a moment,” he paused again, looking up at her to steel his nerve, just to let this one moment of weakness leave him. “What made you decide I had changed?”

Morning everyone
I’m okay, thank you. And yourself, love?
Only okay? You are Narcissa Black, you should feel on top of the world at all times. I am doing quite well indeed. What is on the agenda for you today?
Well once my brainless room-mates decide to leave, then no doubt I will be. I’m glad to hear that, and I think I might go and sit down by the lake for a while, I could do with a little peace and quite, care to join me?
Morning everyone
